Frontend Development: The Craft of Experience

Frontend developers build everything a user actually sees and touches — the buttons, layouts, animations, and interactions on a website or app. If Software Engineering is the umbrella, Frontend is a specialization under it, focused entirely on the user-facing layer.

This path might fit you if:

• You have an eye for design and care about how things look and feel
• You get satisfaction from seeing your work show up visually, right away

Backend Development: The Engine Room

Backend developers build what users don’t see — servers, databases, APIs, and the logic that makes an app actually function. When you log into an app and your data is exactly where you left it, that’s backend work doing its job quietly.

Product Managers don’t usually write code — but nothing ships without them. A PM figures out what should be built and why, sitting at the intersection of business goals, user needs, and engineering reality. They’re the glue between designers, engineers, and stakeholders.

• You’re comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
